“We are a group of ordinary people going on an adventure with an extraordinary God.”

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” jeremiah 29:11

Adventure is an exciting word and always conjures up images of the unknown, the risk takers and fearless individuals that pursue the unthinkable and reach the unimaginable that we would all like to be in one way or another. As we moved to Inverness to start a new church 3 years ago now we still believe that every single one of us has a life changing adventure to step into that is waiting to be unveiled by God. This will not only impact our life, but the people around us and ultimately our city.

We are a church that was planted from a  huge vision for 21 new churches for Scotland (click here for more info), and we would love to explore and journey with you whether you have been to church hundreds of times in the past or never been to church and explored faith. We would so love to connect with you and hear your story. Why not come along, check us out and try church? You can read our heart and vision for our brilliant city of Inverness in the ‘about us’ section and see what’s going on in the life of our church here, and who knows you may just want to stick around with us for the adventure.

We look forward to meeting you,

Thomas & Mhairi Urquhart

“A place where people come alive.”

“Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.” EZEKIEL 37:4

The vision of Inverness Vineyard Church is to be “a place where people come alive.” We believe that when people encounter Jesus, the adventure in life really begins. That we come alive and begin to step into an exciting future and the promise of eternal life spent with God, that impacts not only our lives but the life of the city. To do that we will try to keep these eight important values at the core of who we are and in everything we do:

RELEVANT //  living a faith filled life in a way that people can relate to that is accessible whatever your background or experience of church or God.
FUN // church is to be fun and enjoyed! we don’t take ourselves seriously but we take god seriously.
ADVENTURE // being a people who are bold, take risks and invite people to join IN WITH US at every opportunity.
THE BIBLE // we believe in the power and authority of the bible and we will teach from it regularly, it’s as relevant today as it’s ever been.
FAMILY // we want people to not just be part of a crowd but part of a life giving, honest, real community. there is a place for everybody.
SERVE // We will be a group of people passionate and deliberate about loving and serving our city, the NATION AND THE NATIONS.
GENEROSITY // A people generous with our time, money and energy. We are a people blessed to be a blessing.

Lead Pastors: Thomas & Mhairi Urquhart

Thomas & Mhairi are the pastors of Inverness Vineyard Church. Before moving to Inverness in September 2017, they lived in Aberdeen for the last 11 years, being part of Catalyst Vineyard in Aberdeen firstly as youth pastors and then leading Catalyst Vineyard Ellon, 15 miles north of Aberdeen for 4 years. To read more about Catalyst Vineyards vision to plant 21 churches by 21, click here. They are here in Inverness full of faith  and ready to serve Inverness in any way they can whilst sharing the good news of the gospel. They have 3 brilliant boys and have a love of beach days and (too many) trips to Starbucks!

Sundays are important to us here at Inverness Vineyard, they are such an important landing point in our weeks to worship God, to explore what on earth we are here for, to regain perspective and to build community with each other. Can we encourage you if you call Inverness Vineyard your place and people or you are dipping your toes into church, to commit to coming regularly – we are all running this race called life and these are the pitstops we all need as we journey with Jesus!

What to expect :

~ On our morning worship gatherings we meet at 10.30am and you are so welcome, especially if church isn’t usually your thing .

~ Arrive from 10.15am to grab a great coffee and register your children into Vineyard Kids and Tots. Their programme starts at 10.30am also.

~ We start our mornings with 30mins of worship, a precious time to come as we are whatever kind of week we have had. The words are on the cinema screen so don’t worry if its your first time at church or you don’t know the songs.

~ We then share a short, relevant talk from the Bible and then have an opportunity to receive prayer towards the end of the gathering.

~ We then sing one last song as all the kids return and then get the kettle boiled up again for a cuppa and a cookie!

~ Our service usually lasts 1hr and 15mins

SERVING CHURCH & CITY- “We invite everyone who calls Inverness Vineyard their place to pick up a piece of the jigsaw.”

We are thrilled to be back and thrilled to have a space to gather together again.

But we can’t sustain this with a small group of folk. We believe that everybody has a part to play in the mission of Inverness Vineyard church and we would love everybody to find a place to serve, pick up their piece as we put together the picture of the church God wants us to become. The steps we are taking will require more folk to sign up as time goes on, so if you are in a place to give in this way, please fill out below and be blessed as you serve the vision of our wee church.

If this is your place, pick up your piece.

What is the regularity of the services in the month? – we are having 3 gatherings a month with the last Sunday of the month no service taking place. 1 gathering a month will be an all together service.

Why the cinema? – Back in April/May time we felt the Lord share with us that we were to “follow the favour”. It has proved very difficult to find a space on Sunday mornings with appropriate space and availability. Vineyard churches UK on a leaders call shared about other Vineyards using the Vue space and we took it from there!

Will we stay at the cinema longer term? – Who knows?!  We are currently operating on a term by term basis.

What Covid measures will be in place at the Cinema? Masks will still be needed as part of the gathering and hand sanitising will still remain. We want to reassure everyone we will be committed to ensuring everyones safety at our services whilst also creating a space that feels like Inverness Vineyard.

I can’t make it to the in-person gatherings – will you still have online church? The plan at the moment as we take this faith step is to record our talk each Sunday and upload this to Youtube weekly. We want to still have online content available but also want to acknowledge the step into in-person and make sure we take that step healthily whilst maintaining some sort of online presence.

I’m part of the church but don’t feel able to serve just now- is that OK? Absolutely! We are well aware that for some of us the return to church itself is a big enough step without having to worry about serving too. Like we would previous to the pandemic, if you can’t serve just now – that’s ok! Just come as you are. You are just as loved and important to us and God should you serve or not.

I joined the church during lockdown so have never been to an in person gathering, can I join a team?! Absolutely, serving on a team (along with joining a life group) are 2 of the best ways to get connected and feel part of things. We would suggest teams like welcome, logistics, tech as being a great starting point as we get to know you. Click here to fill out the form.
